REAL
LEARNING SYMPOSIUM
March
31 - April 2, 2003
Tempe, Arizona
Springtime,
the season for all things new, marked the arrival of the annual
Real Learning Symposium. The 2003 Symposium offered attendees
a wealth of learning opportunities. The four-day program included
keynote speeches, participative discovery sessions, breakout
groups, and lots of social interaction.
Mark
Little, the new senior vice president of sales at Monster, the
worlds largest online career resource, headlined the event.
In an inspiring and energetic talk, Mark walked the audience
through his first 90 days at Monster, where he is on his way
to increasing sales by $100 million in his first year. Mark
is a longtime client and colleague of The Real Learning Company,
and he wove many of Real Learnings core principles into
his discussion.
Another
keynote session featured Melinda Laubscher, the manager of professional
development at Mentor Graphics, who described a new model of
organization development based in part on Real Learnings
Symphony performance mastery program. Dennis Dressler, of Triad
Performance Technologies, described a fast, effective, and powerful
way to measure the results of training investments.
A
customer panel that included representatives of Toyota, Bristol-Myers
Squibb, and the Catholic Healthcare initiative explored how
three very different organizations pursue performance mastery.
Innovative approaches to corporate initiatives were discussed
using the example of UPS, another Real Learning customer. Other
featured events included a self-discovery session that built
on the findings of the new positive psychology movement.
Breakout
sessions explored several new Real Learning product introductions,
both in the performance mastery and sales mastery arenas. Rounding
out the activities was a series of spirited and engaging social
interactions over excellent meals and libations.
